I need a new drill, and want to go with the m12 line. i currently have the m12 ratchet and m12 fuel 3/8" impact, I would like to eventually switch to milwaukee entirely (have a dewalt hex impact and light).

I can get a kit with 2 2.0ah batteries 1 xc battery, the milwaukee hex impact driver, and 3/8" drill, both are not fuel, for $140

Or I can the m12 fuel 1/2" drill with a 2ah and 4ah battery for $130.

So basically for $10 less I'm getting an a fuel version that is 1/2" vs 3/8", but one less battery and no hex impact. I'd jump on the combo kit if it was the 1/4" impact which is what I really want though I suppose the the hex impact would do, plus it'd free up one of my dewalt batteries (have 2 total for the light and impact)

decisions, decisions...

I had a similar decision to make and chose M12 Fuel only because the difference in power/torque was quite evident. Special pricing of non-Fuel kits looked very enticing with extra batteries and/or tools for similar prices and will work well for some folks but I got addicted to the extra power/torque found only in the brushless Fuel.

To me a 3/8" drill is good for very little if its my only drill.

1/2" Fuel!!

are there any advantages to a 1/2" chuck aside from being able to fit larger bits (all my drill bits are tapered to 3/8")

I'm leaning towards the fuel

i have the non-fuel.. its not overly impressive to be honest.. actually, the dewalt 12v max drill that i also own, is more powerful, and more responsive.. if you want this stuff to be your primary power tools, and can live with the additional cost - the fuel is the better tool by some margine.. i was playing with the fuel version in HD, there is a big difference between them.

thats being said - the non fuel drill and impact are still very good. it just boils down to money, and how much you are comfortable spending.. if you dont NEED the fuel, and can get over the "social stigma" in here, they might be a good choice for you. i went with m18 fuel stuff, and m12 non-fuel.. i am happy with all my brushed m12 stuff, but they will not be replacing 18v tools.
