Want to build new frame for RV mattress. Will use full size (60x80) queen memory foam mattress (30 pounds) plus two peeps round up to 400 total weight to support plus some 'movement'.

Want it to be light as possible. Plan to use .5x.5x.065 square tube to make frame then cover with 1/4 lauan. Supported around perimeter well and supported to floor near mid-point.

Will start with the rectangle. Any advice on additional framing within the rectangle? I'm thinking two full-length pieces then ~3 cross pieces as shown (in poor drawing...).

I want it strong enough but not 3x overkill like I tend to do. I would appreciate any guidance.

I would consider angle iron, just drop in. Look for free bed frame and modify to fit.

Yeah that may be overkill maybe. I have a free to good home queen bed frame in my garage now in DE if you are RV'ing up this way haha.

Can you draw in the points where it will actually be supported? For example, if it had legs where would they be?

I’m all for doing things yourself but you can buy mattress foundations from any furniture or mattress store for a little more than $100.
