I'm putting together a set of tools for my truck. For the most part, I'm just scraping together extras I have lying around; however, I need a set of ratchets. All my other stuff is craftsman so I went to Lowe's because I know they carry craftsman hand tools now. I don't need a whole set with a bunch of extra sockets so I was looking through the individual ratchets and one in particular jumped out at me. It was a 1/2 inch drive, 72 tooth "mini head" ratchet. It's not the typical pear head ratchet and it's not the SBD 120 tooth ratchet. It actually seemed like the best of both. The head is smaller in width than the pear head but significantly thinner in profile than the dual pawl 120 tooth. I played with it in my hands and it felt so perfect and ergonomic. The selector lever was accessible and smooth and the quick release was butter smooth as well. On top of everything else, it is serviceable via 2 torx screws on the front side which to me is better than the snap ring on the pear head ratchets.

Anyhow, I decided I like it so I went to grab the 1/4 in version and the 3/8 version only I couldn't find it in 3/8. I looked everywhere but it just wasn't on the shelf and there was no sign that it had been. I whipped out my phone and started searching to see if I could find it online but I couldn't find evidence anywhere on the internet that the 3/8 version exists. I was super bummed because at this point I decided I loved this series of ratchets and wanted the full set.
Anyhow, I'm appealing to anyone who has any information regarding this series of ratchets and whether they make or will in the future make a 3/8 version of this ratchet.

The model number for the half inch is CMMT99431 and the model number for the 1/4 inch is CMMT99423. According to the packaging they are made in Taiwan.

Thanks in advance for the help

I did find that one but the design is different. First of all, it's a long handle. Also, it's constructed differently. It has two Torkx screws through the back and one through the front where as the other two are completely clean from the back. Finally, this one has a groove around the selector switch where, again, the others are completely featureless on the back except the switch and quick release button.

Can they really be the same ratchet with all those differences between the 3/8 version and both the 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch?

Yup, I couldn't find the 3/8" version of the Mini Head 72 tooth that you're looking for either. Closest I could find was the Pear Head 72 tooth also but they have the whole set of 1/4", 3/8", & 1/2" for the Pear Head. Looks like someone forget to make the 3/8" Mini Head.

Couldn't find it on the Craftsman website either but then again their website is really lacking, many of the SBD Craftsman models aren't listed.

Is it a new model? If yes maybe it didn't get released yet but I would figure 3/8" would be the first to be released as that size is usually the most popular.

I know the feeling of finding a ratchet you like. I have a 1/4” “premium” craftsman ratchet.
This kind:
https://toolguyd.com/craftsman-premium-ratchet-review/

It’s not the best ratchet I have by any means and no where near my most used. However it is my favorite. I’ve always wanted the 3/8” and 1/2” version but the local store never had them.

I should have bought a set of those when Sears had 'em. But I was too overloaded on ratchets and $$$ was low.

So I settled for a triple play of EASCO paint brush handle rats.
