Help finding a tool...

I know it's pretty vague, but I've been trying to locate a spring scale tool. I've been getting further and further into working on motorcycles and that is the one tool I really need (setting up a swing arm and steering head bearings) . The tool looks like one of the weight scales you would use to measure the weight of a fish (put the hooked end in it's mouth and let it dangle). I'm not even sure what the exact name of the tool is, which has made it hard to search on-line for it. All I've been coming up with are scales that look more suited to the kitchen than the garage. Maybe someone can hopefully point me in the right direction for one that is geared towards motorcycle work.

Go to the tackle store or sporting goods store and look there. I have them upto 100 pounds. Used them to strech the steel tape measure over long spans. Allows you to put measured load on the tape for consistant measurement.

Some of the horse packing places carry this type of scale. Try Wyoming Outdoor Industries. Also some livestock supply places have them for larger weights. I don't know how accurate you need or to what weights. PM me if you like.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Charles, the link you posted is exactly what I'm looking for. The pre-load on the swing arm and steering head bearings wont be much over 6 pounds. I'm not too big on doing those things by "feel" alone, like others I've talked to have suggested.
