I just ordered this socket set through work which was a wright set and when it arrived it ended up being a cougar pro set. I called wright and for the ratchet set I want they do not make that one anymore.. searching online there's numerous websites with this same pictures set and you order it thinking you are getting what you see but they send you cougar pro now In that set. I'm sure cougar is good but it's not what I ordered wright set shows a metal case and it's made in USA were as this cougar set came with a plastic case and made in Japan. Wright told me over the phone that the only 6 point they were seeing that was not cougar is a423. The one I was looking at was 42. Here is the one I ordered: http://www.pts-tools.com/cgi/CGP2SRIM?PMITEM=KP50A42&PARTPG=CGP2SRFC&PAMENU=Content-type: text/html. I'm thinking of going with a different brand now that I'm unsure when I order the next one if they will send me a cougar set instead.. the a43 set she said is still made by wright is more than I wanted to spend right now.. plus I liked the switch on the one I ordered verses the dial they have now on there wrench. Just looking for some help on one like the one I ordered that will be good. I was thinking maybe sk brand even though I wanted the wright since I just ordered other wright tools that are on there way.

The picture you linked to is wrong, it shows a pear head ratchet. Wright does not offer a USA made pear head.

No problem, i know I've searched Wright tools before and not a lot of info out there. When i googled that set, I just searched "Wright tool 423". Best of luck. Wright makes some good tools.

So what exactly happened here? The OP ordered a Wright 423 set, but the distributor sent a Cougar set? Was it the distributor that made the mistake?

I ordered a42 set and thy sent me a cougar. Called wright and they said that only 6 point set they had was the 423 set. The a42 set shows that it's wright and comes with a metal box when really it's not its a cougar set. I ordered thru a tool supply near my work that we go through so I could put it on a tool bill. But I searched and other websites show a wrong picture for the 41 set. I didn't want to spend $250 right now but that's the only set they have in the 6 point is the 423 I now learned.

Now I'm stuck on spending the $243 on that set buying a single wrench from wright for now and slowly getting more sockets or I'm also looking at the sk 90 tooth

If I understand you correctly, you're talking about buy the set contents piecemeal? That would make the $242 set cost over $290 and not include the metal box. I'm a big fan of Wright tools, but I don't want to overpay for them either.

If you are thinking of buy the set piecemeal, consider getting a SK breaker bar from Harry Epsteins instead. The 17" Wright one on Amazon is $92.00. You can get a 30" SK breaker bar from Epsteins for $71 + shipping

I'm starting to get a clearer picture. The A42 is the Cougar line, and shows up in Wright's Cougar catalog online, including the pear head ratchet. Here's the Cougar Catalog It currently is in a plastic case, and doesn't include the breaker bar. The breaker bar is in the US made Wright set, but not the Cougar one. That explains a little of the price difference, along with the fact that the Wright branded sets are US made and the Cougar isn't.

OP, if you google Wright Tool A42, one of the vendors that comes up is ToolDiscounter, who has the set for $85.85
