I don't have the privilege to post in the "wanted" section yet. I remember seeing a "free socket" thread, but I am having trouble finding it. Trying to complete a set of SK 3/8 Metric Deep sockets, need sizes 9, 16 and 18. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

I now offer an aging service for sockets if you are forced to buy new.

Just mail me your new sockets and we will begin the process within two days or less.

The price is just $100 per socket (GJ member price, general public is $175) which is a great deal considering the labor involved.

I can install a genuine patina on the 18mm and the 16mm in as little as 6-8 weeks for the basic package.

The full treatment can take up to a year and naturally costs considerably more. Please contact me for the brochure if you are interested.

Please note our aging service is the real deal, not to be confused with those other guys who just wack your precious socket a few times with a hammer and smear some grease on it.

Note: 9mm are a special case. We prefer not to do those, but if you absolutely must have a 9mm with a genuine patina the cost is considerably higher, or the time greatly extended.

Many of our customers find it more cost effective to buy an older VW or Land Rover and perform the same job over and over to achieve a reasonable facsimile of an actual patina.

Thank you for your valuable comment. im tempted to move forward in that direction, do I have to pay for shipping on top of the $100. Also, I have friends who would like their new snap on sets aged. They are not members of the garage journal, but if I sent them out for them, could they still get the discounted GJ Price? Also, can you guys professionally crack a socket so I can take it in and warranty it. Then I can send all my warranty sockets to you and have them "serviced".

he probably is.

Please take my advice and buy sockets to match your fasteners, not to match your hansen trays. Keep in mind I have spent an undisclosed amount of money buying sizes of sockets I have not and will not use. but it's ok in my case because I have sockets in some sizes that the hansens don't have pegs.

I work mostly on BMW, Mercedes and Audis. I use the 16 and 18 quite often, not so often the 9. The set I am trying to complete is just kept in my truck, which is why I would rather not spend $45 on 3 SK sockets. If I find them used, great. But if not, I will find some other cheap fillers. I just prefer to have a matching set if possible.

I bought Westling trays for my sockets that don't fit on the Hansen trays. It is neurotic but I do like having every size from 3mm to 38mm and 1/4 to 1.5 in.

Nah, just a little humor, although...

How long did you take to write your advertisement above. Well written and you could probably get someone to ....... you know send you some for scheduled annual service.

I can see Dan Aykroyd (SNL) doing his late night sales pitch just like the Fish-O-Magic

Westling makes some **** trays. I use them for misc things like torx/hex and odd sizes that don't fit elsewhere. Spark plug sockets and O2 sensor things.

1/4 to 1-1/2 huh? seems like you're missing a 3/16 and are your 1 to 1-1/2 every 116 or only every 1/8?

3-38 is probably better than I have in metric but if it is, it's only beat me by 1 or at most 3.

It just came to me, and I typed it out.

I suspect I'm not quite right.
