I've got a detached 2 car garage/workshop at a second home with 2 overhead doors. Doors are controlled by 2 Lift Master 3800 jackshaft openers with auto locks that are activated when the door is closed. I have the openers wired up and mounted on the wall by the man door.
I've had this setup for the past 3 years.
Got a call from my neighbor down the road asking if I was around as he drove past my place at 7am and one of my overhead doors was open. He drove by again at 4:30pm and still open. Needless to say I was 4 hours away and hadn't been to the house in 2 weeks. This is the 2nd time this has happened. First time it was only open about 4".
Crazy........any thoughts?

Lower limit switch may need adjusted or the door safety switches are out
of adjustment or if the sun is shining in the safety switches in will make the doors open. if you have gotten a lot of rain the floor may have raised
enough to set off the safety ,or

^^ :headscrat ^^ Sunlight will not activate your door!!

I would start with the low voltage wires, make sure there's no staples shorting it or no wires shorting at connections..Good Luck

I had this issue on occasion at my old house. Clearing out the remote codes resolved it for me, but this was a developer built house and they must have crossed the remotes with another house on my street.

I'm liking your suggestion as far as the low voltage lines as it happened to the same door both times leading me to think it may have something to do with the low voltage wiring.
I'll make a new run and see what happens.

Had a similar problem at work for about 6 mo.
Would get a call on the weekends that someone left the shop doors open.
Would arrive in the AM or on a Monday and the shop would be wide open.
We were allowed after hours access to work on our vehicles, every one was sure they secured the building when they left.
Long story short...one day during a storm, the doors started to close after a power surge. We had it figured out now!
Hit the breaker (w/ doors closed) the doors would go up.
Hit the breaker (w/ doors open) the doors will close.:dunno:

SOP now is to turn off doors at breaker as part of lock up procedure.
Every AM when I open up, hit the breaker, and shut the doors.:D

Several garage door companies have looked at the problem, none have a solution.
It seemed to start after we had remote openers installed.
