I have added on to my existing shop and the new addition is 2' taller than my old shop. Does anyone have any ideas on how to seal my new gable end and my old roof. The new gable end is going to have vinyl siding on it.
Thanks!!!!!!!

You need to back it up a bit.

To do it right, you need to use step flashing.

One each, under each course of roofing shingles.

Doable with an existing roof that you do not want to replace, but not fun.

I have the same deal from my house to garage connection.

Do I have to remove the existing shingles or do I just slip them underneath?

Install blocking between the vertical 2xs to prevent the osb from bowing in. Then as
everyone has said, ice and water shield, and step flashing. Then lay a temporary spacer
board, 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch, on top of the shingles and lay your J-mold on top of that as it is fastened to the bable. This gives a better finished look, and allows moisture to
get out.

bedrok, they should slide between the shingles, your first one will have to be trimed because of the nail on the end of the first row of shingles, after that they should slide into place, making sure that they overlap.
