Help ID my garage door ....

Several years ago there was an "incident" involving the garage door and a trailer that was taller than expected. :shocking: This resulted in the bottom panel of the door becoming severely disfigured and the next panel up suffering as well.

The garage was already here when I purchased the house , so I know nothing about the garage door.

I would like to replace the bottom two panels (and some corresponding hardware), but I am unable to identify the manufacturer to find replacements. I have been over several of the panels, and can not find any makers mark. I have not called out a door place, as i would prefer to replace the just the panels and not a whole door.

I am not worried if the replacement panels do not match the existing panels exactly. I just want them to function and be able to effectively close up my shop.

Can any of you with garage door expertise help me identify, and possibly find a few replacement panels? Please see the attached pics:

Thanks, Mike

Good luck with that! You may have more luck looking in a scrap pile than a door co. No offense intended! I'd keep an eye on CL for a used replacement door. Even if you are able to find replacement sections new, a used door would probably still be the cheaper route to go! Good luck.

You left your garage door like that for several years!?

I'd call your local garage door sales and install place and have a tech come out and take a look. Those guys have the best shot at knowing what it is and what will fit. They can also sell you a new door, which is probably your best course of action.

You will pay more for 2 panels than for a complete door. Go find a nice design if a insulated door you like and replace the hole door.

It looks like a wayne dalton model 2400 , they were available with a couple different styles of insulation, most were sold without and thrifty home owners added insulation, they measure 2" thick and cheap styrofoam is pretty easily cut and jammed in to insulate. Should be pretty easy to find a dealer that would sell you a couple panels.

Hey Mike,

Where in the world are you? And what's the budget look like for your repair?

I'm sure some google geeks (No offense) or a craigslist junkie, like myself, could help give you an idea of prices in your area for a used door.

Check with the usual suspects - sometimes the stores get garage door returns that a previous customer tried to install - which they sell half priced - even cheaper if the door are missing parts. I picked up an insulated door ( 9X7) that had a slight crease in one panel which was hidden by installing the handle on, missing a few parts which I had from the door I was replacing got it for less than half price.

I guess I am just stubborn with OCB. I would have had my hand tools, hammers and flat dollies and been flailing on it.... until I got it to rolling again. JMO

I can tell you that in 2008, a custom made 9'9 x 6'9" door with insulation (middle model) Amarr-Fimbel ran me about $350 at Lowes. My sister just got a quote for Lowes to install TWO 9x7 doors for about $1300.

I'd say it might be a Wayne Dalton, but you could try Amarr and ask for a guy named Craig Dye. He's the guy that helped me at Amarr back in 2008. He was fantastic.

Me personally, the door looks a little rough and I might just replace it....
