Hoping there might be a way to ID the approximate year of my old Blue Point tap & die sets. These are the only tools I have that were my dads & he passed away in 1963 so they are older than that. Blue Point tap & die sets in fitted wooden boxes. 1 set of large sizes & 1 set of small sizes. SAE & USS. What should I look for ? The cover is broken in half on the large set but I have both pieces. Just need to get some small dowels and glue it back together. I need to find the tap handle for the small set as well as replace a couple of missing pieces. I'm pretty sure I do have the tap handle in one of my boxes.

The first one looks like this "Vintage 50's Snap-on Blue Point Tap & Die Set TD2500."

That's the small one exactly. Mine has the same decal on the top that says TD2500. The large set has the remains of the decal but it is unreadable. I'm guessing there's also a set in between these 2 that I don't have. I'll have to put it on my list of things to look for.

OK So I guess I'm officially a tool "collector". I just pulled the trigger on the missing set on Ebay for $39 plus shipping. Goes from 1/4" to 1/2". Missing 1 tap but I'm sure I have one in my pile of extras. If not anybody got a spare Blue Point 1/4x20 collecting dust ? Hell I don't even need this set since I already have pretty much the same set only in a Mac box but now I can say I have all 3 of the vintage Blue Point sets. Don't even get me started on metric sets. I've managed to convince myself that those would not have been available in the US in the 1950s.. Here's the Ebay pic of the set I just bought.
