Acquired this little vise, it appears to allow items like wire to pass through the handle if held in the jaws.

Does anyone know what this would be called or what this manufacturers mark is?

inquiry sent to the vise expert. may take several days to hear back from him.
in the meantime, suggest posting that in the "vise info" thread
(see the sticky thread in the vintage forum)

Some refer to that as a Hand Vise. Used for holding any small items watch parts, jewelry, fishing, modeling, and more. Wherever small parts are manipulated.

Lowell Wrench Company, of all people, made crguy's little hand vise. patent 166553 Aug 10 1875 Leonard L. Pollard.
I have a tiny little British-made pin vise around here branded "Eclipse".

no idea on the Dixon.

maybe....

Dixon / Dixon Wrench Co., New York, NY / patent 837809 Dec 4 1906 Jay Jehile Dixon /

Dixon / William Dixon Inc., 32-34-36 E. Kinney St., Newark, NJ /

??

@RTM - You DID notice, did you not, that Benj. Allen catalog is rife with patent dates in the illustrations?

Yes I did. I was trying to search, but turned up nothing quick, and had to walk the dogs quick, as there was 2 GS on the route. Almost all the tools disappeared at the first one in the first 15 minutes supposedly.

And Dixon was a hobby retailer in the US, stamping tools throughout. Seen chisels, coping saws, compasses, and a few similar items, so a vise would not surprise me

Thanks for all the great replys!
I'm told the Logo is for "Penn Tool Company" though my understanding is they are a resaler/retailer.
Also I haven't found this logo elsewhere and I'm not sure how IPC or IP Co translates to Penn Tool but possible it was only purchased there

Those all look like they would be good for tying flies. Great finds.
