Help ID spark plug gap tool??

I got this in a small toolbox with a bunch of other tools. I have never seen one like this. Anyone know the manufacturer? It's definitely one I will keep in the box once I give it a good cleaning.

I don't know who or when but they were common awhile ago. The older ones had wire strung between the uprights and didn't have the MM sizes on them. The wire kind would have been used 50 years ago.

Edit: smaller gap sizes on the old ones. Coils couldn't make enough volts to jump .060.

I'm gonna go with an older style lisle; they still sell something similar.

I have one of those crazy ones somewhere (might actually be kobalt) don't use it, use an ampro not that it matters, all of them do the same thing.

Go back far enough and those were sometimes giveaways at parts stores. I'm sure I have a couple at least floating around somewhere in the box...

I have one like that, it was made by Kaster (Kastar?). Cheap and not consistant on thickness. Not all the sizes are as stamped, I measured them and found they varied by as much as .005".

I go with fairly modern. The gaps in most plugs didn't widen to those numbers till the mid seventy's.

I agree with modern, but more for the fact that is has the gaps in mm as well. I have a Kastar of that type, without the mm markings on the back, and it has a brass rivets holding it together. goes from .025 - .040

And agreed, most of these gap measuring tools are not particularly accurate...

Some old tools still work great today but this will not be one of them. I wouldn't trust it to gap the plugs on my car or bikes. Pick up new one from Autozone for $2.99 and at least you will know the measurements will be correct.

Looks like the consensus is out on this POS. Maybe I'll use it to make some metal art. Gots the making of a spider or crab torso.

Why would you assume that? The QC on these "tools" is atrocious. The only thing you can count on is that if someone gaps using the same tool, that they should get the same gap in a set of plugs. (I'm making the grand assumption that the user can gap consistently... )

Meh, you're pretty much eyeballing it with a slider anyway. They are self referential. The fancy plugs aren't supposed to be re-gapped; iridium I think, they've been using them more and more. Run like **** with forced induction even with factory gap.
