Hi, I picked this little Ratchet set up a while back and couldn't find much info on this set. I'm under the impression it's a similar Patent to the Acceles & Pollock ferret ratchet. I've only ever seen one other set with the old
'King **** & Abingdon' inscribed on the handle.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Kieran

I don't know anything about it, but I want one! :)

I would guess 1920's or 1930's with the hex drive and COO marking (BRITISH MADE vs MADE IN ENGLAND), but that's just semi-informed guesswork. One of the guys from the UK who hang out down here on various threads, the 'BRITOOL' thread, or on the 'Tools of the Old World' thread on the General Discussion board will undoubtedly be able to tell you more.

That ratchet design may be crude and coarse, but I absolutely love the idea of the male drive stud on the end of the handle and the hole in the shank near the ratchet head for the tommy bar. That is a very cool concept and I can't think of a US Mfgr who did anything similar.

Definitely a different twist, and I've never seen anything even close to either feature.
