Help identify NEMA plug?

Hi,
Trying to determine what I have here on a Grizzly mill, and lathe.

I think it is a Nema 30 AMP plug but I want to be sure as I have to install a new circuit for a "used" mill and a lathe, they both use this plug.

Why are there 4 brass contacts, are there 4 wires on this 30 amp circuit?

I have not picked up the machines yet, just getting prepared for a future circuit.

Also can I run 2 outlets off the same circuit as long as I am only using one machine at a time?

Yes you can "Time Share" one outlet with two or more machines; I started doing it in '81 right after I got my first garage and started plugging my saw into the outlet for the clothes dryer.

Since its a 14-30, its for an electric dryer NOT an electric stove.

Electric stoves use 14-50

Yes i believe so, the website PDF states a minimum of 15 AMP, i am thinking of going to 20.

Looks like a L15-30 (3 phase) to me but L14-30 looks very similar. We use these in the PDUs in our server racks. You can use this picture to match which it is.

Are you certain that Grizzly did not make a 3 phase model?

If they are single phase, get the correct cord ends. Pretty hacky to use a three phase plug on a single phase machine.

Secnd look, it does appear to be a 120/240 cord end. Ignore he 3 phaase comment!

yeah people do that all the time.

if the equipment is 240v single phase, then it doesnt need a neutral.

If you look on the edge of the white nylon, you can see all the needed info for that attachment plug printed on it, some is partially visible in the photo.

Could be that the previous owner added some courtesy outlets on his 220 equipment, making the neutral necessary!

Would need supplemental overcurrent protection if the outlets are 15a or 20a where the plug is 30a...

I went and checked...
30 amp breaker, didn't open cover plate
10-3 Romex W ground (orange 600V)
Wire from wall plug going to mill motor forward/reverse was pretty small 3 wire.

and it probably doesnt need a 30a circuit either.
