Can anyone help identify this screwdriver? There is no markings or brands anywhere on it that I can find. The handle is triangular. It is beat, but I have always found it to be very comfortable and would like to see if they are still made. Thanks!

I have a few of these left from a large set that I purchased several years ago at Sam's club. I also think Wal-mart sold a simular set. They were marked as "Credo Professional-USA"--Mine has a black and bronze colored handle and is a tri-lobe type. You can google search them and maybe find some somewhere. Mine have the perpendicular lines or anti-cam out design-however were very soft and most are broken/bent/twisted from usage...Cranky

That's disappointing on the quality. This one also had anti cam out lines and seam to have held up over the years considering the hard use. Maybe I'll just buy a set of Wera's. Thanks for taking the time!

I think I have one like that. I'll have to look in my shop today, but I think the brand is Popular Mechanics. Mine has gold lettering that is starting to rub off. If I remember correctly, Popular Mechanics tools were sold at Wal-mart but are no longer available.

I believe you are right, that is an older type of popular mechanics made by a different manufacturer and sold by them. I might have a couple left that lost the lettering that looks just like that.

Yup.. I think its a PM piece that someone made for them. I have the "multi bit" version of that in my junk drawer.

with the credo proffesional lead I found they might have been make by Vermont American as "The Claw". The handle fits my hand really well. Too bad they aren't made any more.

Walmart also sold a very similar line called Promark(?). I can't recall if that was pre or post PM(Popular Mechanics). They did have black handles, where the PM had colored handles.

Is it that particular "brand" you are looking for or because of the triangular handle?

I recently replaced my old Matco/Witte (Protop) screwdrivers with a new Matco/Witte (Maxxpro) set & the new ones have triangular handles. I like the new ones much better. Blades are chrome vanadium.

They're made by Witte Germany so you can get them cheaper than from Matco if it's triangular handles you are looking for.

You may be able to find a few to stock up on at the pawn shop. I know there is a lot of variation in terms of what's available depending on geographic location but the bins around here are full of them with the triangular/roundish handles by many makers ... usually unmarked though.

The handles do have horizontal lines running down them.

I like both the shape of the handle and how long and meaty it is. I can really get a good grip on them. I think I'm going to pick up a set of Wera's to try though since these have not been made in a long time. Do you guys know if all of them are made in the Czech Republic? It would be a bonus since I am too.

THIS^^^^

Vermont American was the OEM - these were some of the best tools Walmart ever sold.
