help identify this vise please!

I found this vise in an old garage i bought...

any help on identifying on make and model would be GREATLY appreciated!
and also any help or advice on what i gotta do to restore this thing, and is it even worth restoring?

i can't find any name anywhere on this thing


PS...i can only get 1 picture to upload? so ill upload more once i figure out how to do so

anyone know why it is saying "upload failed" when trying to upload the other 2 pictures of have of this vise

From the one picture you posted, it looks worth saving. It just strikes me as a US made vise, and may not be in that bad of shape.

I want to buy a vise for my work truck, if I saw one like yours for the right price I'd buy it and clean it up.

Looks like the static jaw was busted at some point and welded, knock the dirt off the sides and see if you can read the name cast in it.

Looks like an older Reed. The model number will be a 20_. The last digit is the width of the jaw. The back end will have several patent dates on it.

It could be an older Reed. As mentioned above, clean it up, check for cracks or welds. Reeds are very stout, some of the best IMHO.

I see that along with a possible repair on the dynamic jaw. Looks like some possible welding at the bottom. It's either that or some old paint build up. If it works I'd take it apart give it a de-rusting bath, lube it up and throw it on the bench for duty. It will be better than any Chinese made one you get at HF.

My vote is also that it's a Reed.
