It appears Prentiss was a tool dealer, including used tools, so your press could have been made by anyone.

I was thinking it’s a site asset tag, but if you can figure out the logo above on the brass tag, looks like AEM in a circle, might tell you one way or the other. The painted on same number makes me think asset.

I would agree with RTM that "D165 is an asset tag. It looks like a nice quality machine. Alphono--more pics please.
