Hello all, Long time no see!

I found this gadget in a box of old A/V cable and such and am wondering what it is. I think it might go on an OTA TV antenna mast or similar structure but, that may easily be WAY off, again, just guessing. It has a ratcheting mechanism in/on and where better to ask about something ratcheting than GJ!

The whitish things on the end are plastic and can be removed leaving about a 3/8" hole but the hole in the center pin (ratcheting part) is considerably smaller, roughly 3/16". And my would I feel silly if it's a clothes line tensioner. I'm hoping it's SOMETHING fun or interesting in the TelCo arena.

The body seems to be aluminum but the wing/handle and ratcheting 'pawl' seems to be steel; Not positive on that though.

Lol I'd guess a clothesline tensioner would be just one application it could be used in. That's what I mentioned as thats the only contraption similar to that that I have. I'm sure if it was in a box of telco gear, it was used for tensioning cables or something similar.

The only problem I see is that you don't want to / can't bend a telco cable like that without causing signal issues. Any cable that would have tension that the telco-cable would be attached to would need a much bigger device. ;)

It's definitely used for tensioning wire of some sort though. Maybe they used it to tension guy wires for a small antenna?

It's a tensioner used to hold a cover on a round pool. Uses a 1/8" vinyl coated wire rope cable threaded through the grommets on the cover, then through the holes in the tensioner.

Now THAT is a major change from anything telco related...but, I've never actually seen a pool cover tensioner so I suppose I could be the ?proud? new owner of one?

Or I suppose I keep my silly hat on thinking I've got a clothes line tensioner...hmm, *decisions*

:( Now THAT is a major disappointment. Thanks for the help guys! Glad I at least now know what this darned thing is...even if I can't swim...let alone own a pool to use it on.
