First post to the forum! I picked up a used toolbox today full of vintage plomb, snap-on, blackhawk, and craftsman tools. After emptying the box, I started looking for a makers mark. After a while of searching I saw the faint remnants of a blackhawk decal. I was wondering if anyone knew the model or age of the box. It's similar to old plomb boxes that were made in the 30's and 40's.

This is the first box that I have seen with a full tray that is removable. Most of the plomb, proto, etc boxes like this only have a half tray that can be removed.

I'm going to try to do some gentle cleaning in the decal area to try to get a good picture of it.

This box is definitely a candidate for restoration!

Thanks,

Chris

Quick update. Still no pictures of the label, but I was able to read that the box was for a Q.D. wrench set. Based on the information that I've read on blackhawk, this box would have been build before 1934. Still haven't seen a picture of another one like it.

I have that same box with most of the tools it came with. My wife's uncle gave it to me a few years ago before he passed away. It was his fathers who he said bought it when he did maintenance on a truck fleet in the 30's.

jeb42, Is your box in good enough shape to indicate the original paint color?

No, not for sure, I repainted it with Rustoleum hammered black. When I stripped it I could tell it had been repainted before, but it looked like it was originally black.
