Help Identifying Husky ratchets (searched)

Hi, I am new here but have been lurking for a while. I recently picked up some tools on trade including these 3 ratchets. They have no COO. They are stamped with a husky head and 1/4":1410, 3/8":3810, and 1/2":1210. Unfortunately, the 1210 is not working, the small tab that selects the direction was broken off internally.

I Googled and only found one mention on the board here. I found only one similar looking pic online of a c-k ratchet. I don't really think there would be any justice in replacing with current husky round head ratchets.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Jon-

Thanks,
I went to home depot which was a mistake.....after explaining I didn't want these replaced with Stanleys, another customer service lady took off with my tools.....I get there and she is matching them up for replacements.....programmed....I tried to get my ratchets back from this lady and she had a Kung fu death grip on them. I had to restrain from beating this lady to death with my ratchet. The 1800 number redirects to Stanley when you select hand tools. I will probably end up drilling and setting a pin inside the 1210 to fix it.

Anyone have any info???

The Husky name has been arround for a long time.

I would guess that if they are Home Depot's Husky tools then they are almost assuredly Chineese made since almost nothing in that store is US made...not even the lumber. You might try calling HD's customer service. HD will replace hand tools but that is it.i wouldbe shocked if they sold rebuild kist for their Husky stuff. I went there once witha broken 3/8 u-joint extension. Since I bought it in a set all they could do was tell me to send it to corporate and they might send me a replacement or possibly a whole set. Do some more research on google.

Can you post some better close-up photos of those ratchets? I don't ever recall seeing Husky tools like those...

The Husky screwdrivers are made in the USA. If those ratchets in the OP are a few years old, I would say they are likely USA made as well, as were a lot of their tools.

Is it ossible these are a different Husky.

Nope, same brand; Stanley acquired the name with their purchase of NHT in 1986 (along with Blackhawk) and licensed the name to HD in 1992. Subsequently Stanley always produced the Husky tools for the Home Despot, but they actually transferred the rights to the Husky name in (I believe) 2007.

So the OP need not worry about receiving Stanley tools for his Husky since that is what it already is!

Of course, Husky was one of the brands that were mentioned in the FTC complaint against Stanley for making false "Made in USA" claims, so one can never truly be certain if a tool from that era was made in the USA even if it is so marked...

From reading up on another post, husky has been around presumably before home depot. In 1941, craftsman and husky both sold a ratchet that was a rebranded New Britain. I also think I read that blackhawk or a parent company made husky for a while.

My ratchets have no COO. Don't get me wrong. I have plenty of Stanley ratchets. The round heads they are selling now have larger profile heads and less substantial handles than the set in question. The 3/8 and 1/2 drive heads appear the same size. I'd just really like to keep what I have, USA or not, I haven't seen any others.

Can you post a pic of the ratchets you are talking about? The craftsman.

The lumber in the stores by me is china or south america. I am sure there is some USA but I see alott of foriegn COO's on the wood.

:eek7: I guess Ill need to pay better attention! Last time I bought a good bit of wood it was at a Lowes and all of it was from Georgia.

Thats scary if they are shipping in Lumber from china or other countries.

I just checked out some of these 1/2" Husky USA ratchets at the flea market. They were actually very nice. The ratcheting action was very smooth and felt like it had 100 teeth. Did not buy this time but might next time. The guy wanted $8.

did they have a chrome or a satin finish? The newer chrome (mid 90s) husky ratchets are probably imports even though they say made in usa on them. Stanley had to pay a fine for it.

Husky ratchets have been made in China, India and Taiwan since 2010.
The one in the picture is an older model, but a sturdy little fella. I have had two for over 20 years. I think that part number was read to me several days ago, over the phone, when I was talking to a Home Depot Tools Department member at a local store.
They have simplified their return policy, also in 2010, making it less of a hassle. If you have the tool they are not supposed to require the receipt. Look on-line for Husky's warranty and ease your pain.

This is NOT a Home Depot/Stanley ratchet. TheSilveOnce's ratchet is much older... when the original Husky company (and brand name) was acquired by New Britain sometime in the 1930's. I believe its a model Husky CS-45 1/2-Drive Ratchet (I have one just like it, and was also curious as to its manufacturing origin).
Check out Alloy Artifacts for more info:

Check the underside of the ratchet shaft for the patent number:
The patent notice refers to patent #2,981,389, filed by Luther Kilness in 1957 and issued in 1961.
