Help identifying new thrift store find

Hello all! Thank you for a painless registration process and for your gracious welcome to this esteemed forum. I recently saw a craftsman device which was unknown to me, but most reminded me of some sort of welding implement. .it was $5 so I scooped it up without knowing it's exact purpose let alone it's worth (although the worth is just out of curiosity as I do not part with my tools)..from the photo supplied I I'm hoping to get as much information as possible. It's a dual probe thermos hinge for propelling you imagination to the far reaches of nowhere. I really have no idea, but welcome to the GJ and I'm sure others will reply with more imformed guesses.

Its a carbon arc brazing torch. Do a google search of images.
