Hey folks, on a recent trip home I finally brought my father's drill press home with me. From what I recall, it belonged to his father who was a machinist. I assume he used this one at work, but never got any real details. I didn't see any obvious markings, but will take another look tomorrow. Anybody have a clue for me? 05203bc16b223d93145a9cec040abce8.jpg8eecbc6177226fe78de2e31c1beeeb57.jpg9814ef43376b839b6efe67b2e921fd6a.jpg

Looks much like my Canedy-Otto Royal 16. Unfortunately mine is partially disassembled, but I'll see if I have any pics to compare.

Saleen: you might also check out the vintage drill press thread and see if another member owns one or maybe restored theirs so you can see what yours could look like. here's the link:

All: nice work guys figuring out what Saleen's drill press is. i've got an older Canedy-Otto drill press and i love it's look and it works too, but i might need a new leather belt.

Must be the super high speed model.

I'm confused or I missed the joke. If it's the same as the one I linked then the slow speed on it is something in the 400rpm range. This is way slower than any of my craftsman 100/150 drill presses and on par with my non variable speed delta drill presses.

Sorry, I wasn't being serious. It just looks like it's set up to spin about 8 grand.

but i might need a new leather belt.
For true, a real old school machine such as yours deserves a real leather belt. But FWIW, in an emergency, measure the old belt and use that dimension to buy a ribbed serpentine belt. Install ribs out, just enough tension not to slip in a hard pull and it will run the DP forever, or until you spring for the good stuff.
