I dug up this screwdriver that's probably older than I am... I don't recognize the logo, is it worth keeping around or should I just replace it? The flat head tip is slightly chipped.

You are typing and using the internet by yourself, so we will say you are older than this screwdriver that is currently available for a few dollars at your local hardware store.

Pitch it; get some quality screwdrivers that have a lifetime warranty and are comfortable in your hand...

Yep, it's a Vermont American alright. Somebody's been opening paint cans with it; that's about all it's good for.

vermont american hasn't sold handled screwdrivers for a while. they were the manufacturer of the yellow acetate handled screwdrivers mac and matco sold ( the previous mfr was rosco, VA bought rosco in 1974). i suspect VA stopped production and thats why matco changed to witte.

I always wondered where Rosco stuff fit into the picture.

Also I saw VA american made screwdrivers for sale at some store I was in within the last 6 months.

I sold fistfulls of VA screwdrivers that looked just like that in hdw stores years ago. I was never partial to them myself, though they are American made.
