I have an older Gas Weld brand oxy/acetylene setup that I am trying to learn about. Is this setup any good? It looks pretty old. One of the handle parts and some tips are larger diameter than say the newer Victor brand stuff. Is this setup better than buying a new Victor setup?

I can supply more pics if necessary.

I had pretty much the same situation as you a couple of years ago. My Grandfather gave me all his welders. The oxy-acetelene setup also had the cart and hoses. Turned out the tanks were rentals. Once I priced all the stuff I needed to use basically the same parts as you I was 3/4 of the way to a new portable set. That was what I really wanted anyway. I still have all the rest of the stuff in a box.

The regulators eventually wear out and stop working - the spring loaded diaphram in there eventually goes. But the other components are tough as nails so long as they're not abused.
Clean and polish the pieces, make 'em look shiney. And put em to work. My 20+year old rig has been so redone - see B4 and after pics.
I like your Proto tank wrench, too!

If you need regulator repair, this place is reasonable priced and great service.

I ended up buying the same size set as Bonneyman has in his pic. The whole set was about $300. Then I had to get the tanks filled. I use them more for getting stuck parts off cars than welding.

What is the black wrench roll looking thing in the top pic? Does that hold the torch tips?
