This is available about 1 hour from me. Real clean and has been sitting in this persons house not the garage. I asked for any type of identification and he is not able to find it. Looking on-line this seems to be the earlier KR series? Which I think is earlier than the KRL series? The dimensions are: bottom box: 36 wide, 21.5 deep, 43 tall; top box 26 wide, 15 deep, 17 tall. I really wanted a 40" wide cabinet but this will suit my household needs and is in great shape and not abused. Asking price is $1,000. I would like to know the particular model number before I begin negotiations. I've read up on the KRA series and KRL is a more robust box with heavier sheet metal, heavier casters and glides. If this is an early KR box it may have the friction slides, which I would rather prefer the ball bearing types. A lot of information out there on Snap on and gets confusing to sort it all out.

The bottom looks like a krl, top is some cheaper version. Around here maybe 800$

Top looks like a KRA-58x where x is some letter. Top is 150-300 in great condition, bottom at least 500.
If you really need them, I would try 600-700, but I try to always get a good price

Appreciate that. So looking on eBay, models KRA 59F, KRA59G and KRA4059 matches the top box with similar drawer configuration, handles and lettering. All starting at $500 and up, but who knows what they will bring. Is there a Snap-On guru on this site that can assist where the markings may be hidden. Looks like the white sticker is no longer on either box. Really want ball bearing slides which is more likely on a later model box?

Chests usually have small stamps on the sides or on the back with model and year

Yea had this guy look all over and apparantly no markings. Not sure if he is looking in the right places and not willing to drive 1 hour and realize it isn't the box I want. The odds of this being some generic box with a couple of Snap-On logos slapped on is highly unlikely?

Those boxes are real. The price is steep for this rig though. I wouldn't drive an hour for them unless the price was around 600 bucks and I needed them desperately.

Owner was non negotiable so I passed on that one. Here is another one that has 3 boxes setup and looks to be in real good condition. Can't find this style box and this owner like the previous one does not know the model number on these boxes. They all seem to match. Any idea on these model numbers and what this setup may be worth?

All the boxes you listed are Snap-on. Part of the problem is possibly that you're posting in the vintage section.

They are legit. Decide if the storage and price work for you. Don't get hung up on needing to know the exact box number--nice to know but does it REALLY matter?

From what I know, Snap On has a wide range of tool boxes and prices vary based on model numbers. It would be good to know if I am getting a Kia or a Porsche. But you make a good point I'll move the post to the General Tool Discussion Forum.

That stack of three is relatively new judging by the tubular locks. The last new Snap-on box I purchased was in 2007 & they were still using wafer locks.

The closest current equivalent would be the "heritage series"
Bottom box KRA4813 MSRP $2995
Mid box KRA4860 MSRP $1375
Top box KRA4810 MSRP $2545

I would keep hunting for a stack at a better price. I'm on the other side of the metro from you so I usually see all of the same boxes you do on FBMP. Snap-On stacks often go for less than that.

This is great information thanks for the comments. Yes I look at both FBMP and CL. A lot of sellers are retiring and say the tools go with the sale and effects the sale price. Negotiating that out is usually not an option. I’ll keep looking around.
