Help. I’m not even sure what it’s proper name is. I saw one reference to a center square, but I’m not sure. Also not sure who the maker is. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm unsure, but I know it ain't no Harbor Freight!

Obviously has a specific purpose. I've been a builder for over 30 years and I've never seen one of those. It's cool looking!

Stick a ruler in that slot and then you can use it to find the center point on the end of a wood or metal cylinder. Hold it against the end of the cylinder, scribe a line, then rotate it 90 degrees and scribe a second line. Where the two lines intersect is the center point.

That's a gorgeous piece right there. I wouldn't be surprised to find out it's from the 30's or 40's. You might try looking up vintage starret tools.

Standard Tool Co. "Center Head." If you would be interested in trading it for other tools, please let me know.

Right on! Now I gotta have one, even if I've never really needed one before.
