Looks like a Wilton 745 or 746 to me. Figured it would have the number cast into the left side but I guess not.
111245 and 111146 both pull up a Wilton

What is the jaw width and weight of the vise? A photo of the bottom of the swivel base would be helpful as well, as it may have a casting number.

The casting numbers are not date codes, rather part numbers that will help identify the model, mfg. and era. I agree with Foreman05 that your vise is a Wilton and looks like a "740" series, but I haven't been able to find any information to substantiate that yet.

The jaws are 4”’wide

the only other number I could find was 5-79 stamped into the bottom of the 111245 piece

the base hole is actually smaller than the projection cast into the bottom of the 11146 piece and the locking jaws need to be shimmed to work unless this is not the correct base

Your vise is a Wilton model no. 744 mechanics vise. That model was first advertised in 1968 and is still currently offered by Wilton today.

The "5-79" is a date code. I was able to find another "5-79" vise like yours, so it was pretty easy to verify the casting numbers. The casting on the moveable jaw is actually "111215" and not as previously referenced.

The moveable jaw casting number "111215" is consistent with the Wilton's parts diagram.

Your vise is a very decent working man's vise and is certainly worthy of any restoration or repair. After market parts may be available for your vise as well.

I had the hole in the base casting enlarged so now that fixed back jaw fits correctly in the base. I test assembled it and it works great so now it is striped and soaking in the parts washer.

It looks like the only parts I will actually need are a few screws and the pipe jaws but I am waiting to order them until I get the jaws cleaned up

would you happen to have a parts list like that for the Wilton bullet machinist vises? Specifically one from either 1960-1969 thanks

I've attached your requested parts list in the "big vise thread". I don't want to "muck up" this thread with unrelated information.
