Help identifying vice and fixture

A while back I bought out a small basement machine shop and in one of the boxes where these two items. The first is a fully articulating vice. Was there a specific use for this? The second is a grinding fixture. I'm sure a machinist in the crowd could fill me in. Thanks

The first is a fully articulating vice.

It looks like a Rockwell Univise.
