New to the forum. I picked up this compressor from a friend before he scrapped it. I plugged it in, and it runs very quietly. Looks like someone probably built it. The I.D. plates are nearly impossible to read, but I'm pretty sure the electric motor is a GE 1 1/2 HP. The switch is a Penn. The pump says"Made in the United States of America" on the side. I can't find any other markings on the pulley, the tank(looks like 30 gal), or steel cart. I am thinking about fixing it up. All the air lines need replaced, and it needs a relief valve added. Can anyone ID the pump? Am I correct to say that this is something that someone built from a refrigeration unit? Any info would be helpful. I have looked though forums, and Google images with no luck.

Uncle - I can't add much other than to second your thought the pump is from a refrigeration unit and someone assembled this. There are a lot of those around; they work but you probably already know they put oil into the compressed air. Good news is that helps keep the tank from rusting; bad news is you have oil in your air. It is an interesting looking unit!
