Greetings Mr. Cobbler: I am building my own exhaust mufflers for a 1973 Yamaha RD350 motorcycle that I am restoring. This is basically the part that I will need to weld on the end of the muffler pipe. On this will then mount the silencer end can. I have bought aluminium tubes of 3" OD... Worst case, I will have to just buy a mild steel pipe, cut it and then weld plate, drill a hole in the center and weld the small tube as is in the picture. I was hoping that I could find something similar or even a metal cylindrical/round cup where I could just drill a hole and then weld that stinger pipe in it.
The one I have in the picture is the part sold in Japan by a Japanese vendor and its out of stock.....

Look up aaen performance, under exhaust in the snowmobile section they have a silencer with that style cap, I would call them and see if they will sell separately ( or just buy the complete silencer).

That type of silencer was commonly available years ago for those who ran race pipes on the street and at tracks that had noise regulations. I think there are still sources for them. You might try to search for Yamaha aftermarket dealers in the UK where many people still run the 2-strokes on the street. In the US, the vintage racing group AHRMA might be able to help you.

Here's a forum that covers Yamaha 2-stroke racebikes. Someone will be able to help there.
