help installing ceiling fan

My inlaws have a new fan to replace the old one. Last weekend i installed it and has a universale remote controll. I had trouble with that but i finally thought i had it. After got it together and up i turned the power on and only thing work was the fan and only 1 speed. Does anyone have any tips for me. The wires says(if remember right) motor (?) and motor(?).

Not enough information to offer any real help. The only thing I can say is to double check how you connected the power wires to the fan wires. What's the brand and model fan?

In a normal newer home you will have a 3 wire...white/black and red ( of course the ground bare)...anyway..the white is you netural...the red is for your light and the black is for your fan motor...the wires in your fan will be labled that way as well...if you only have a two wire white and black...and a remote mod...the whites all go toghter and the black goes on the input of the mod..the rest is labled....If I knew what you had I could help out a little more..

How everything gets wired depends on a couple of things...

What do you have coming into the junction box? Is it two individually switched wires or just one?

How does the remote connect in and what does it control? Many of the ones I've seen are designed to go into the wiring at the fan and provide wireless control for both light and motor speed. With this setup, you feed either a constant hot or a single switched hot to the junction box / fan.

As already stated... there's a lot of detail missing about your specifics that keep anyone from providing directly useful comments.
