Hi All

I'm finalizing design of 24x24 garage with 4:12 over 2:12 scissor trusses. I won't have a finished ceiling, so need to brace the bottom chord. Trying to figure out what this means from truss specs:

BOT CHORD: Rigid ceiling directly applied or 9-10-15 oc Bracing
WEBS: 1 row at midpoint ?

Looks like "9" is the midpoint of the truss, and "10" is under the small vertical webs. I'm lost for the "15" location except there is a 0-3-15 ref where the fascia board at the tails would go. The web (1 row at mid point) location can be seen on (each side) on W2. The small rectangle with an x through it represents a 2x4 brace. All bracing is perpendicular to the trusses, from end to end. I'd just throw up some 7/16 OSB for a ceiling but the 2 web bracing is required ridgid ceiling or not. At least that's my take on it.

I would ask the truss mfg.

I see these calls often and I do not understand the bracing req'mnts either.

These kind of calcs are often input by a technician, they often use a previous calc input data with modifications, and sometimes artifacts from the previous calc remain. The engineer that stamps them often does't review the calc.

Sad to say this, and it does't mean there is a mistake, but always check someone else's, work, always.

if you never read truss drawings the numbers are feet - inches - sixteenth inches so the 0-3-15 note means the dimension is 3 15/16" at the area so i dont believe that has anything to do with the bracing. The two blocks noted w2 is your web bracing they call out as 1 row at midpoint. it seems 9-10-15 number is indicating bracing at 9'-10 15/16" oc bracing in lieu of gyp. bd. but dont quote me on that :)

Jack stand covered the web bracing. Bottom chord, three numbers on truss prints are read as feet, inches, sixteenths. So, 9-10-15 is 9'10 15/16 on center. Split them off of the center and you should be good. Also, you may need some other "typical" bracing that should be outlined in your truss package.
