I don't understand how a pad under the pump affects changing the oil, care to elaborate?

Probably by raising the pump higher allowing easier access to the drain. My drain hole's location ***** too & I can't even fit a funnel under it. But I just made an extension for mine.

I used some adjustable feet from a washing machine. Two nuts on each foot to level compressor, feet have a soft plastic cover they work great.

As others have beat me to, yep raising it enables me to push a curved, wide sheet of metal under the pump for oil draining. Otherwise the oil runs everywhere.
My last compressor I plumbed with a six inch 1/4 pipe, then capped it six inches away from the pump for cleaner drains. It leaked a fraction, over the months so I wasn't happy with that solution.
Although, almost anything beats letting the oil go over the tank.

i used 3/4 pressure treated plywood for the top and the shelf base for strength and in case it got wet. the rest is 2x4's cut to length. i had to cut and build as i went in order to get the compressor level as the floor isn't completely level. i thought it was very important to do this because it is necessary for the compressor to be level.

i screwed most everything together and i screwed it to the wall so it wouldn't vibrate away from it. however, i do need to get some antivibration pads for it.

if you have any questions let me know, i will help out anyway i can.

Just got my Quincy the other day.. and last year I cut up a 97 Dodge Ram and I had the body mounts laying around... so I mounted the compressor on them.
They work great, very flexible.

was just about to order some hockey pucks and thanks to your post I remembered I have some body mounts laying around!
