Help! Liftmaster 8550W - no longer slowing down at limits

Hi,

Weird thing happened today. My Liftmaster 8550W went crazy and I had to reset the up and down limits.

Everything is working again but the open / close speed has increased quite a bit. I've also noticed that at the open and close limits it just jerk stops. Before it has a soft stop feature.

Anybody know why this is happening? Any way to get the soft stop feature working again?

I believe those units still use an rpm counter as a back up. I would open the book, clear the old settings and re set the opener as if from new. If that fails call their 800# but be sure you are home and have easy access to the opener. They will walk you through some diagnostics. If your area had lightning, it may be a bad board. They should be able to narrow it down.
