Help - MaxJax Installation Problem

Hi from Australia.

I purchased a MaxJax a couple of months ago. I have just had a new garage built, and today it was ready enough for me to install it.

All was going well until......

I remeasured the placement of the plates, and unfortunately it seems I have measured incorrectly.

Mine are 140 inches apart (measurement taken from the outer point on the plate), and I have read in the manual that the maximum seems to be 130 inches.

Has anyone else made this mistake, or could give me some advice on what to do next.....

Do I need to move one plate in so the maximum width is 130 inches?

Will this compromise the strength of the concrete?

Perhaps you could use the curent inside holes for the outside holes, that would probably bring you into the 130" + - range. You'd need to drill the center hole for the outside center and 2 new holes for inside anchors. I'd fill the old holes with high strenght epoxy if you're worried about the concrete, I don't think it would be an issue.

I mounted one for a friend and he went 140" also. His race car is pretty wide but very light. You may reduce the calculated lift capacity some, but it is marginal. 7000# is the rating, and he won't even be coming close to 4000# so he went with it.

What are you lifting? Call the mfg and ask them if they think it the extra width is an issue, before you go thru redrilling holes close to the other ones that may be more of a concern than the extra width..
