I'm building a slim cabinet virtual pinball table using a 43" led tv and a wooden frame to go around it. Unfortunately I have way too many hobbies and lack of space so I will need to fold it against the wall once done playing with it.

All is built but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to fold it, meaning it will come to a horizontal position 3 feet from the vertical, while the top say at the wall.

So just think of a slim box top sliding up and down a wall.

I already built a locking kick out leg, I just can't think of how to get it to slide up and down securely at the top of the box.

I did something like this by using a router to make "tracks" in side boards and putting bearings on the sides of the piece I wanted to roll up. Mine needed to go up and tuck back in so I used the router to create the grooves in that shape. Also made a little jog at the bottom so it was secure when down.

Got a picture? That's a good idea.

Now I'd need to make side rails.

It was at my old place, I should have a picture somewhere though, I will look. Was thinking about doing it again for a cool old race car track setup I just got so it would be out of the way in my shop. Will need about a 4'x6' piece of 1" finish plywood for the top and my niece and nephews will use it, so I want it to be easy to move up and down. Probably put wheels on the two front folding legs so it can kinda roll down and out. I might also have to put a couple of those hood lift support cylinders on it to slow it down and make it travel smoothly.

Similar to Wildbill but how about a frame on the wall made from 1x3 or 1x4 on edge to the wall w/ aluminum C channel attached on the inside. Then use 1/4" bolts w/ plastic bushings instead of bearings. Might not slide quite as nicely as bearings but might be easier and cheaper. You can find plastic bushings at Ace or similar in the pull out drawers in their bolt/screw selection area.

Last night I came up with the idea of making 2 wood C channels and I already had some rollerblade wheels, one on each side. I'll make it in a few hours and see how it goes.

Update, my wheel system works for going up and down flush against the wall. I just need to figure out how to lower it gently.

A chunk of foam rubber at the bottom of each channel? Thinking of the stuff on rolls sticky back on one side in the window/door insulation area. You may need to experiment w/ thickness vs rubber firmness.

The channels are just sized for the space of the wheels going up and down. The problem will be once I mount the tv how will I slide it back in place without too much problem.

I tried rigging a pully but it was a no go. Today I'm going to try some drop down casters that will be under the table. If all else fails I'll just attach some lawn mower wheels to the sides.

Edit: I got hit with a honey do list, taking my Friday away. Seriously, when the spouse says "i'm going to do" it really means your going to work like a govt' mule running around doing most of the work.
