OK FRIENDS! This is what I came up with this past week.
....
So with these things being off by 1mm to 2mm, what do I do?
JFM,
I agree, ya done good for your first try especially on something of that size and complex design! I have a few suggestions.
Get to know and love these:
Carpenter/Framing Square
Combination Square
ONE tape measure
Straight edge
Clamps (many!), big and small
Saw horses
Painter's tape
*You figured out your first t-square was off, but sadly after a few cuts. Verify and if necessary accurize each carpenter/framing and combo square before ever using them, and recheck them from time to time. I'd only ever trust a drywall square for drywall.
*Squatting down to cut on the floor can affect balance, mobility, vision, lateral push on saws, etc all which can affect the cut, so be sure to use saw horses.
*I use painter's tape by the mile. It's good to mark on. It helps with plywood cut edges. It keeps a saw shoe from marking stained or painted surfaces. For cutting two stacked slick pieces at once, it's great for getting some friction between the two.
*Buy plenty of clamps but if you want you can use a trim compressor & 23 ga pin nailer in lieu of some clamps on thin stock. You'll just have to pull the pins out afterward and be happy with a few small holes. I use both.
*A belt sander can take care of a lot of inaccurate cuts when assembling. I use this too...
Show us pics of your next build!
Rick
