Help me change up some basic electrical?

Hello! I have a ceiling fixture that is bad. I’d like to change it to an outlet for my plug in light fixtures. I can’t find a cover to match the round work box. Do I buy an “old work” double box to replace this with? A single wouldn’t cover the hole. If I get a double do I just use one double outlet or get the 4 outlet? I feel like I just need a parts list for what needs to go here.

Next up I need an outlet (220) for my Hobart Handler 140, air compressor, and a kitchen oven. I’m ok with only having one outlet. You can see my breaker box is finished. Do I do like the outlet you see already there. Just run conduit out of the side? I only want the outlet a couple feet from the breaker box. Nothing complicated. Again if I knew the parts list I feel the install would be easy.

I suppose I’d need the same plug to install on the oven as the welder.

Unless I'm wrong isn't the HOBART 140 120 VOLT or is it dual voltage? Are you planning on welding in your kitchen, or putting an oven in your garage? Either way running the 3 of those isn't going to fly. If your oven is all electric it's probably on a 40 amp breaker. Maybe a 20 amp for the welder and a 20 or 30 amp for your compressor depending on the size motor.

I looked at this in the store. It left little gaps at the flats. I figured that’s a no no.

I want to say it’s dual voltage. If not I still need it for the oven and compressor. The oven is a kitchen unit that will be for powder coating. I was just going to switch cords for what I’m using at the time. All three only see occasional use. No need for dedicated outlets. I just wanted an outlet that would serve them all when needed if possible.

Some are made so that they meet that rule.

I wouldn't worry about the single screw though, won't be plugged/unplugged enough to cause issues.

for the round ceiling box... I usually just use a round ceiling cover (there are two version with different distance between the holes), drill a hole (7/8 for 1/2 knockout), cut the core, and use a strand relieve on the light. Looks a lot better than the tacky plugs.

This metal round cover. just make sure get the right size one... It will cover no gaps, but does require you to cut the cord of the light... I did it for my parent's looks good. If I find the pics will post it.

THEY DO EXIST !

The guy at HD (claims he was a retired sparky) said he never heard of a ceiling box cover that came with the receptacle pre-installed !

And every ceiling box receptacle cover I have EVER seen only has one screw holding the receptacle in !

Leviton 9726-C will give you a single 5-15 receptacle (with ground) and still have the screw-in bulb capability.

What is the HP rating on the compressor?

If over 3HP you will need to hardwire it.

Any 15 or 20 ampere 120 volt receptacle in a shop/garage/outbuilding is required to have GFCI protection, & the GFCI is required to be readily accessible.
