I carry a small inexpensive 1/4 ratchet in my work tool box, and only use it for
one specific machine. It does the job ok, but have been looking around for
a nice SO or higher quality. Any suggestions on something that would be about
the same size? As you can see, the one that I am using is about 4 1/2 inches long...

Thanks
Joe S.

I have a little snap on tk860 which measures just shy of 3.5 inches long. Great little ratchet for under dash and tight quarters work. They can be had for a decent price since the 72 tooth version came out.

I'd get the Craftsman 1/4 thin profile. USA Made, quick release. Gets great reviews too. Snap-On 1/4's are nice, but too pricey for your needs as stated. Its a little less than 5 1/2 inches.

The wright 2492 is supposed to be the strongest 1/4 on the market, which is pretty believable once you have one in your hand.

As an added bonus, theyre beautifully finished, made in the usa (and stamped accordingly), and are only $25.

It's a great ratchet and Wright is not ashamed of being a "Made in U.S.A." company.

The facom head is awesome, I have one in 1/2" drive. I wish they were easier to get

there, easy to get. Search the same part numbers on ebay. I got a new 1/4" drive one for like $20 shipped there.

Also the 60 tooth SK 40970 is a solid classic ratchet that can be had for $25 if you look, and considerably less on ebay if you watch for a decent one. I've probably sold 5 this year for about $17 shipped.
