Help me choose a roll cart

After looking through multiple threads I'm ready for a roll cart I think. My current work setup is a Cornwell 58" top and bottom next to a krl1022, and a two shelf polymer cart. Before the 1022 and polymer cart I used the Cornwell and a Cornwell 700 series until I ran out of room. I now have plenty of room to grow and have used the current setup for two years. There are times I miss the Cornwell 700 but it was hard to roll when loaded(maybe better casters would have helped although I did modify it to all swivel). Now I like my setup but feel that I'm constantly walking to my main boxes, as I'm the only tech in 8 bays. Looking at the krsc33(top still keep fluids and aerosols on bottom), krsc326(prefer lock and roll over Cornwell detents), krsc46, krsc43. Have heard the snap on carts roll well even when loaded. Concerned about size of the 43&46 as even though I'm the only tech our lifts are close together and when all bays are full getting around cars are tight. But the Cornwell box will likely go if I do this in favor of something like a kobalt two door 36" wide cabinet for blow molded cases parked on the side of the krl with the doors opening sideways from the drawers of the box(much less footprint this way). I know this was long but people with experience with the smaller and larger carts help me out.

All I can tell you is I have a KRSC40, which is the older KRSC46. I use it as my only tool box and roll it all around the plant I work at. It doesn't care about plastic pellets or stuff like that on the ground, it just rolls right over it. I was an auto mechanic so I have a lot of tools, overkill for what I need in the factory, so it's fairly loaded, but not ridiculous. It rolls good and have no issue with it. I will say, if I had a main tool box and this was just to move SOME tools around, it's way too big for that. As a stand alone rolling tool box as I'm using it, it's about perfect.

When I was in the shop I used just the $99 heavy plastic craftsman cart and it worked well for me, just to throw tools on. Now I have two of them both at home lol. And a KRL

That's the kind of cart I use now. But for water pumps, Timing belts etc I'm constantly going back to the big box for another common socket/wrench. Usually a few trips unless it's a job I've done a bunch and know what to grab to begin with.
And if I get a big cart I the Cornwell box will be sold in favor of a cabinet for the cased items.

Based on the tight quarters concerns, I'd go with the krsc33 or the krsc326. I had the predecessor to the krsc33 and it was a nice unit. The new one is the same cart basically except mine was bolted together and the new one is welded. the only irritation for me was the painted lid as opposed to the stainless steel on some others. Couldn't place anything on it without fear of scratching it up.

Correct me if I am wrong but the 33 and 326 are same footprint I thought. I'm just thinking between those two one holds more tools while the other holds fluids and aerosol on the bottom and may maneuver easier due to less weight. I'm more wondering if the 46 moves EASILY when loaded. In all carts I would likely use the lid area as work surface/ pen clipboard gloves area rather than loading it wth sockets.

The 46 will move easily, my 40 does. Same box, different drawer config. I bought mine used and the guy before me added extra drawers, 2 handles, a top (rubber mat), and 4 swivel casters. Not sure yet if I'm a fan of the spinners but the rest is awesome and I can always get 2 fixed wheels.

Sorry for the sideways pic. GJ is buggy on a phone.

IF I were buying new and doing it again, I would get the cart with the split top that slides open so you can access the top contents easier.

I have a 46, all I can say is it awesome! One of my best investments. I have it loaded with my regular day to day stuff, 1/4 and 3/8 sockets along with 1/4 cordless impact, screwdrivers sets, prybars, SAE and metric wrenches (regular wrenches, ratchet wrenches, and flank drive +), a full drawer of pliers, hammers/dollies plus general whacking hammers, 3/8 and 1/2 impact sockets and impacts. That pretty much sums up everything in it. I can move it easily from one side of a car to another. For rolling around tight areas it can be trying but I have done it for about 3 or 4 years without causing myself more work on a car or damaging my box. If size is a concern I have a buddy that has the 326 which is pretty much the 46 just a little smaller and he works out of it every day and seems to not have any issues with his getting around. Either way you can't go wrong I've rolled his around at his business and it does just as well if not a little better due to size as my KRSC46. I did a little write up on mine when I bought it, it's pretty much the same as when I first bought it but I have since added a few more tools, I still can't get over how much **** I can put in that thing!!!

Thanks. And your review was one I have read a few times already. There is quite a bit of info from people with the 46, many of which use it as a main box and don't roll it around(which wasn't super helpful for what I was looking to know) and not much for the 326 in terms of usability.

I got the snap on krsc416 which is now discontinued but it's basically the 46 that has a slide back stainless top instead of one that flips up. It's fully loaded with tools that I use everyday and rolls around the shop no problem. The only downside to mine is when the top is slid back the footprint doubles on the depth.

I have a krsc326 and it can hold a lot of ****.

I would think that if you have the main station all set up, get a krsc326 or similar size cart for ease of movement. It should hold enough tools for 90% of everyday jobs....

I have to swing by my buddies place Monday, he owes me money! Lol! I'll try to remember to take some pics maybe even attempt a short video of pulling it around his shop. It's a true testament of the difference of a good box and not so good, his shop floor is rougher than a night in jail so there have been absolute explosions there with a couple lesser boxes or careless people.

I have found a great condition 326 for $500. Only problem I don't like red but for the price I may grab it. Really like the sliding stainless tops though.

I have a KRSC43 in black which I keep my electronics and diagnostic tools. I find the drawer sizing wonderful for instruments and related electronic items. Picked up a ups for the laptop and modis I keep in top compartment. Plan to mount a monitor on the back of box with customized non snap on mounting. I picked up two swivel wheels to replace the non swivel ones, this should make moving a touch better as I am packed to the gills in my shop.
Looking at a KRSC100 for a temp project I can sit my traveling box on it. Turns out I might spend a year helping a friend close out his shop.

I had that one a few years ago. Not really a fan of detents. I actually have a Cornwell 700 series at home that has fallen over when I didn have the detents latched before. Thanks for the input though.

KRSC43 I've been eyeballing this one up on the truck for 3 weeks. Its super-nifty. I don't see anything about it that I would change. I was unsure about the lid until I tried it and its the way to go for sure.

I'm just concerned about the footprint of this and the 46. I'd love a 326 with a sliding top.

My 326 has a flip top. Wish it had a sliding. Inevitably, **** always gets placed on the lid.

Well, depends what you got in the Cornwell and how beat up it is, also if you like orange lol. The KRSC46 is a nice cart, and used in mint shape is still worth a decent amount.

Check with your dealer, they released some new carts that haven't hit the website or catalogs yet. I think somebody posted a 326-sized cart with a sliding top last week in one of the toolbox/cart/new tool arrivals thread but I can't find the exact post.

Turns out the orange 46 was actually a 326(coming in on trade). There was a little miscommunication as my dealer is only a driver for the guy that owns four routes. I was making the deal with the owner, the driver and him had gotten the part numbers wrong for the cart. Passed on the 326 for the deal he wanted.

It's over $1700 and a painted top. With dual sliding lid it'd need to be stainless or a flip lid with rubber mat. And for 1700 I could go with the krsc43. At 1895 -10%.

Not really a an of detents is why I'm looking at the snap on's. Had my Cornwell go over on me once and a few other close calls. The detents are either too stiff(which is why I never closed all the way into the detents) or too loose. When tight every time I tried to open or close a drawer the whole cart would move.

So I'm really leaning towards a krsc 326 or 33. Can't decide if I want to give up bulk area for jugs and sprays. But the footprint of these I think will work best. Unless I find a stupid deal on a 46 I'm pretty sure that's the route I'm going. Now if I could just find one in green white or silver, possibly orange.

Problem I have with those is the no pry bar slots on the top like a 46. Sure the top is handy but you loose a lot of holding space with out the opening slots for the 36" and below pry bars.

Completely agreed Matt. That's the exact reason I went with the 46 myself. I wanted all my tools secured and easy to get at the tools I use most.

For me, the vast majority of what I use on a regular basis can be found in the top compartment or the first drawer. I love that it's that easy now.

So I'll have to get pics tomorrow, but I decided to pick up a used krsc33 today with folding side shelf. I think it should work well for my needs.
