I am building a stove pad to put a wood stove on.

The pad will be in the corner of the living room and sit about 2" higher than the floor.
I did think about pulling the flooring to make it level, but I would rather have it sit up so the stove is a big higher (easier to light, load, clean)

I bought singles of tiles that would somewhat match and that amounted to 5 different one.

The stove is black with a nickel door, will go in the blue tape area where the dog's bed is.

I am thinking of #3, which is pretty much in between the color of the floor and walls. The one that really matches the counter looks "lost" when it's on the floor also I think it's too much the same.

The other darker ones I think won't really show with a black stove... might make that corner "dark".

But that is just my thoughts... I'm a beer drinking man that likes *******... so what the hell do I know about interior designing?

I'm going to wrap the edge of the pad with the same Alaskan birch that my cabinets and counter edging is.

I like the one that looks like slate. Would kind of give it a "been there for a while" look.

#5?

(First one in the line up of all the tiles)

The only thing I don't like about it is that the tile isn't smooth, it goes up and down maybe 1/8" or so. I'm not sure how hard that will be to tile (I have never tiled before) also a bit concerned that it may cause the stove to rock a bit.

I was going to select the one that matches your counter tops because it will look like it was planned and was part of the house, not an addon. Also be aware that your tile will lighten as ash settles on it unless your a fiend about cleaning. I would also advise that you get a few extra tiles as a dropped piece of wood will break them. Are you required to have 18" of noncombustable material in front of your door?
