I inherited these Snappies when my father-in-law passed away in the mid-80's. He was a Marine veteran of WWII in the Pacific. I saw a pic of him arming a Corsair on an unnamed island. After the war he worked as an engineer or draftsman at Kelly AFB in San Antonio. I had always assumed he had rescued these from the trash bin at Kelly, since they were well used and Uncle Sam ain't always very frugal with our tax money.

I now have a suspicion they're much older since they're well worn and it's a Ferret ratchet. Can any of you Snappie aficionados hazard a guess as to their age?

Thanks in Advance.

Ratchet looks to be a 1945. Hard to see the code on middle of selector given the photos resolution but looks to be a G code which some people say means it was government owned.

The ferret ratchet is a 1945 model. The G stamp in the center of the selector switch stands for Government. They were stamped with a G for 1945. 1944 models were stamped with an E for Emergency.
