I need to buy a gift. I'm trying to decide between PROTO Wright and Williams.

I have an older set of craftsman 6 pt wrenches that have done everything I needed of them but I'm not sure about the current quality or warranty issues in the future. I could get the following set of 28 wrenches and order two roll up pouches to hold them for about the same price as the sets above.

Thanks for reading.

OP . . . . too little information . . . .. . .
. . . . . is your login saying you're from Oklahoma State University ??
. . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . or is OSU for Ohio State ??

If Cowboys fan, I'm all ears to help you out !! ;) If Buckeyes, no such luck ! :D

Now would be good time to Update GJ Profile with location.

The Wright or the Proto.

The Proto wrenches are slightly longer than the Wright.

If you get the Proto, you can save $7 getting it from Zoro.

Edited to add:

The wrench on the bottom is a Wright.

I know I'm going to get slammed...

But...

The 28 pc Craftsman Set is sitting in my toolbox...

And I'm very happy with them...

I'm only a retired DIY'er, but they work for me...

Mine were bought two years ago, and are "Forged in the U.S.A."...I don't know where the new ones come from...

The fasteners don't seem to care about COO, but there are a lot of folks on this forum that do...

I spent a few minutes trying to update my location through tapa talk but no dice. I'm an OK state alum and live about an hour from Stillwater.

^ ^ ^ Sweet. Once you're at a real computer, it's simple to update profile. It's also nice to have an avatar to associate with your login name. Haven't seen an Eskimo Joe's so maybe a little hometown O-State plug ??

How bout snow today?? Was really coming down there for a while.

+1 for the Wright wrenches if you want full polish now that C-Man Pros from USA are long gone. If you're alright with satin finish, then go with the Williams.

Yeah the snow just tapered off here a little bit ago. It was really coming down.

I have some older high polish chrome Williams that I love, but based on your choices I woul go with either Wright or proto giving the edge to wright.i use proto at work and they have been great for over 20 years.

I'd have to agree. Even tho the wrights and williams are awesome, 28 wrenches with a lifetime warranty for 75 bucks is tough to beat. If you get USA made, you luck out.

Roll the dice.

The part that strikes out at me is the fact that the OP is giving it as a gift. With that in mind, I suppos it would be of value to know how "into tools" or "into mechanics" the receiver is.

If the receiver is a big tool/mechanic guy, then I'd go for the wright or williams. If the receiver is an occasional user, I'd go for the craftsman.

My 2 cents.

I'd tend to agree also but the OP has already placed his order.

I'd only get the Cman if they were USA, I'm no fan of the lobster claw, so I'd pass unless they were a helluva deal and use them for a tool bag.

OP, I see you took the advice and updated your profile, that will help in the future when you ask more questions. Also, next time, provide a bit more information. Guys here are more than helpful and some of them are extremely knowledgeable. 95% of them will not lead you astray when providing you advice.

Here they are. It took a while for them to ship but they made it in time. Quality appears to be top notch. Wish they were for me.
