so finishing a room in the basement, and im looking for a paint for the floor. we are going to use large area rugs in case for some reason we get water we dont want wall to wall carpet to pull up. But i want to paint the floor first so the areas that will be showing concrete will look decent.

not looking to etch
preferably not prime either
not looking for something like an epoxy coat that could be slipper if it gets wet.

just want something simple, inexpensive, to paint my damn floor.

anyone know of a paint that will work ok?

the previous owners used something on the basement floor thats a blueish color, its nothing special kind of a flat or matte sheen, but it doesnt flake or anything, and i can tell they didn't prime it or anything.

the goal is just to get the damn floor painted, wont be parking a car on it just a couple chairs and a TV stand

thanks in advance

Speaking from experience, don't cheap out on concrete floor paint. You don't have to go with the most expensive, just don't go with the cheapest. The issue with painting concrete is that moisture can wick up through the concrete and cause the paint to bubble and flake off.

Hi,
You could use our SPGX pigmented, single coat. Runs about 45 cents/sq ft with pigment. No etching required. Please call to order to get discount, thanks!

Attached is an example. The look and finish of SOGX is no different than a standard epoxy. This floor was flaked into and then clear coated.

thanks, was looking at the behr porch and patio paint, seems like what im looking for. my stepdad used pittsburg exterior house paint on his foundation blocks, and its held up extremely well for a house paint, no chipping or nothing. im sure i'm overthinking it haha

Seems to me that one of the first concerns should be the inherent incompatibility of putting latex or acrylic (water based) over an existing coat of alkyd (oil based) paint. IMHO, this is a receipe for early widespread peeling. Do you know what the existing paint is?
Before applying more paint I would test for that.

found the old paint they used. the used pittsburg exterior paint on the floor. decided i'm going with the behr porch and patio paint, seemed to get good reviews and alot of people said they had great adhesion even when not prepared like the instructions say
