Hey everyone, I know we all like clocks, and since I am naturally a very disorganized person I over-compensate with lists and schedules.

I am looking for a large digital clock. As in over 1 foot wide. Preferably wall mount.

I have a regular round clock that drives me nutz. I have abnormally good hearing, so I can hear it ticking when I am in the garage and I find it annoying as hell. I can also hear it on the other side of the wall in the bathroom. So I want a totally silent clock, which means digitial I guess.

I don't care if its LED light up or just monochome or whatever, just want to be able to see the time from the end of my driveway. I have 20/15 vision, so I should be good to go with anything a foot wide or larger.

Thanks in advance. I have found a few that were big enough, but they are always out of stock. So please only post links for in stock clocks.

Also, lets keep it below $100. I don't need the sign out in from of the bank.:wtf:

Get an old 15 LCD display, and an old 486 PC, windows XP and a free copy of Qlock. Screw the monitor high up on the wall - Bingo!!

(A bit overkill I admit - but works - and you can resize the clock window)

I saw a big clock in Florida, but I'm not sure it's for sale:

They're getting harder to find, but the Big Ben is huge at 36" wide. Might be able to find one on eBay.

I did find one on Amazon, if you can live with the date in LED as well. It's only $66.

If you are electronically handy, maybe a kit style? I came up with some cool stuff, but man, these things are pricey(microframecorp.com):

Talk to JC, maybe he could make you one. They are having the Killer Clock competition...or maybe Breeze if you want a Franky clock.

What do you wear for PPE when doing something loud if you can hear a clock ticking through a wall?? :wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf:

Or do you have selective hearing like my roomate had. Skil Saw or nail gun is too loud but then he watches TV with it nearly wide open.... like I can hear it out in the backyard 200-300ft from the house :lol_hitti

I wear ear plugs whenever I am doing loud things.

Running air compressor, nail gun, mowing lawn, eating out in a noisy restaurant.

I throw on some shooting ear muffs when I have to cut things with the saw really quick.

I have ear plugs in every car in case we go somewhere noisy like bars, restaurants, or movies.

I can still hear everyone just fine and have no trouble making out conversations with the earplugs in.

I can hear the phone charger whine when its plugged in with no phone, and I can hear the noise the TV tube makes when its turned on downstairs on mute and I am upstairs in the master bedroom.

So yeah, my hearing is rather sensitive, and its annoying as hell.

It was a low, dull, quick sound --much such a sound as a watch makes when enveloped in cotton. I gasped for breath --and yet the officers heard it not. I talked more quickly --more vehemently; but the noise steadily increased. I arose and argued about trifles, in a high key and with violent gesticulations; but the noise steadily increased. Why would they not be gone? I paced the floor to and fro with heavy strides, as if excited to fury by the observations of the men --but the noise steadily increased. Oh God! what could I do? I foamed --I raved --I swore! I swung the chair upon which I had been sitting, and grated it upon the boards, but the noise arose over all and continually increased. It grew louder --louder --louder! And still the men chatted pleasantly, and smiled. Was it possible they heard not? Almighty God! --no, no! They heard! --they suspected! --they knew! --they were making a mockery of my horror!-this I thought, and this I think. But anything was better than this agony! Anything was more tolerable than this derision! I could bear those hypocritical smiles no longer! I felt that I must scream or die! and now --again! --hark! louder! louder! louder! louder!

Ok I’ll bite, where is the quote from. I want to know if my guess is right.

OLD clocks are very quiet! It's those quartz jobbies that are so annoying.

This is one of my favorites! It was off a grocery store - it's around 3 or so feet wide and maybe 4 or so feet tall.

Canada, eh?
I bought one of these TelNote XL units from here.

It is great - caller ID when the phone rings so I can see who is calling from across the garage and a large clock between phone calls.

That is really cool!

Now I am second guessing buying that other clock.

Who remembers the flip number clocks from the '70s? Those were loud! When just one number flipped it wasn't too bad, but when all 4 changed you knew it.

Well, I can't help with the digital clock search, but I had the MOST annoying clock ever when I was a kid- a ball bearing clock. I thought it was cool the first night until midnight when all the balls dumped- now that was loud!

Your level of hearing is crazy impressive! I just recently got a little surfboard clock at an estate sale. It's not very big at all, but a couple days later I was in the garage and I was hearing this stupid annoying ticking sound and I had no idea what it was. Finally figured out it was the clock. Couldn't believe I could hear it. My hearing is pretty horrible, especially on my right side. (Un-expected explosion in my uncles shop about 12 years ago.) Never has been the same since, my hearing that is, my uncle is fine. haha

Anyway, I guess it's a good thing I have HUGE speakers in my garage that are almost always on if i'm out there. Drowns out pretty much anything, including the neighbors mariachi music! :lol_hitti

Oh and I have no suggestions for you about a digital clock, sorry. Hope the one you ordered actually shows up!

I always wanted to get around to making one, specifically for a huge autocross timer display. Just run the output of the 7-segment LEDs to a relay for each segment, and trigger whatever lights you want from each relay.. You could use whatever bulbs fit your fancy, from 500W spotlights to el-cheapo LED strips from Autozone/wal-mart/ebay, and make it the size of the side of a barn if you wanted.....

Clock arrived today. Now I have to figure out how to wire it up so I don't have to look at the power brick.
