Help me find a portable tachometer

I'm looking for a portable tachometer for motorcycle work. Mainly, it's for setting the idle mixture on a carburetor.

I'm buying it to work on my own bikes, and this won't be something that I'll be using often, so I don't really want to spend too much on it.

I need it to be reasonably precise (can read down to 10rpm difference). Preferably the numbers don't jump all over the place, like some cheap tools do. I also prefer it to be easy to setup and don't require me to do too much just to hook it up. I'd prefer inductive types that clamp over the spark plug wire if possible.

My timing light has a tach feature. If you do not own a timing light, this may be the way to go.

+1 - since we set base timing at a particular RPM, a decent timing light will have a tach feature. i've got an equus 5568 that has been reliable and set me back about $100 from amazon.

Thanks, that's a good idea. I bought a cheapo timing light from Habor Freight, and it doesn't have a tach feature. Maybe it's time to upgrade.
