I'm striking out for some reason, turning to the collective for help.

I need a switch:

-12VDC
-2A min rating
-waterproof
-NO momentary
-approx. 1/2" mounting hole
-preference is for a "button" that stick's out

If the 1/2” mounting hole is not firm a 22 MM pushbutton is a common item, but a 7/8” hole is required.

How waterproof?
Splash or depth?
Does it mount in a panel?
Is the whole switch needed to be waterproof or the button end of it?

I've used
Tulip brand puff paint to enclose switches taken to 600 feet depth.

Switch will be on a tractor, so rain and snow, but no submersion.

I'm grafting it into a joystick, round panel mount may be the best option.

Try Tractor Supply for the switch and boot, they will be of ChiCom origin though.

Lots of options for 12mm stainless latching switches. You can find them all over the internet if you search for "12mm stainless latching switch or button". You can get them cheaper direct from China from Ebay, AliExpress, etc, if you're willing to wait a few weeks.

I have a bunch of them I bought for a motorcycle project that I haven't done yet. I bought ones with LED illumination and played around with them at the bench, they seemed pretty cool. Pretty solid feeling "click" action for a small cheap button.

That could work. If it wasn't latching.

Haha, oh my bad, when I read your original post I somehow thought you meant "No Momentary" when you obviously meant "Normally Open Momentary". Duh.

They're easier and cheaper to find in momentary than latching. If you do some searching, you can find them with LEDs, and symbols (horn, arrows, power, etc.) and such if that suits your project.

I bought a handful of cheap black plastic/rubber "weatherproof" buttons off eBay, and wasn't impressed with them. Very cheap feeling. The stainless ones seem pretty nice though, even the $1/each china ones.

Just hope I don't get into a 2 month changout cycle when they cap out.

I’ve used switches from Highway Dirtbikes with success. Sounds like they might fit the bill.

I’d post a link but I just registered and the forum won’t let me so google them.

This switch from our own Ken of Bolt on Hooks contributor has worked flawless for me for about 5 years.

How's the ergonomics on that?

I've got grip/hand issues sometimes, trying to get something a's integrated into the joystick as possible.

When I'm in the house later I'll snap a pick of the Kioti knob I partly disassembled. it's very ergonomic and has a 2 part design I was able to unglue.

Well, bought a 2 pack of these.

Modded the 1st one with a silicone bumper to give it a bit more of a pronounced bump, it was a bad idea. Caught it with a pair of gloves and ripped the button off.

2nd one **** the bed a few weeks ago, was making intermittent contact.

Just bought 2 more as I haven't found a better option.

I didn't read all the replies but looks like some good suggestions were made. But I wanted to make sure you don't forget your dielectric grease and make sure it has good anti corrosion properties. I use this for marine connections and seems to do well enough.Screenshot_Amazon_Shopping_20200922-174827.jpg
