Good one! You must mean back in the day when Walmart sold USA made items, and advertised how proud they were of it. Seriously, they might not be USA. Somebody please give me a lead on these.

Looks quite a bit like a Japanese chrysanthemum stamp...could these have formerly worked for the Imperial Navy or Army and been brought back here by a vet?

That was the first thing that came to my mind too, but it just doesn't look right. Not enough petals. LMAO at the Wal Mart...

The emperor's stamp looks like this:

They may be Japanese.. here's a pic of some they look the same size and shape from 1980's Toyota, could have come 'out of the same mould' as they say..

Thanks Farmer J. Are there any more markings on your pliers?
Good Morning Zeeman, I don't think there's any other markings of any significance but will get them out of storage soon and have a look. I also have a few other old pliers so will check them out and see if the design is the same.
I do think that I have seen that flower shaped marking before somewhere on something around a farm, but can't think what or where... I wonder if it was on milking machine/dairy/butter making equipment when I was a kid here... or it could even have been somewhere in North America...
Also my second-cousin-in-law has a very similar old set of pliers to yours on his farm, I will have to check them out and get back to you hopefully within a few days. We think his came back from Idaho in the 1930's with his uncle. Jonathan.

Cool information, and thanks so much for helping out. I don't really know why, but these pliers stand out to me. I have owned several Toyota vehicles from the 70's and 80's, but don't remember the flower trademark on a set of pliers. Who knows, It could be the Walmart symbol that I'm thinking of. I don't think so, but maybe I got hit on the head by some of those 'falling prices' they used to say to watch out for.

It's a pleasure to help, even though I don't have any answers.. yet...! Here's a couple more pics of my Toyota pliers just for reference, no more markings of significance, and no 'flowers'!
Those pliers of yours stand out to me too, sure I have seen the marking somewhere before too. Will keep a look out for the design and let you know if I find it.. Hope we find the answer I will be interested to find out.
Jonathan
