Looking at this vise, cannot figure out who made it and whether it's worth picking up or not...

That's a standard Chinese 6" vise, new at hf for about $60. Used it should be about half that price. If you need something to abuse and it's cheap, get it. If you want a quality vise that you'll be taking care of, keep looking imo.

Thank you! I'm trying to find something local, this is the only thing that popped up for me within 30 min driving. I'll keep looking.

It looks a smidge nicer than a harbor freight tool. Anything current in HG vices are blue and dont have letter or numbers embossed on them but beyond that no clue. Is that 45 writen on the jaws the price? Doesnt look too bad for $45

Lady was saying it was a bridge port. I passed because she didnt know origin, and i couldnt find anything about it anywhere. Besides this forum has me jaded, i must have a US made! Trick is finding one worth buying. Im willing to spend 100-150 but no more.

As nines just said, As far as anybody knows, Bridgeport never made bench vises.

If that vise is a Bridgeport, this car is a Porsche

I laughed too guys, that's why i walked away. I'm lazy to drive 1 hour to pick up a quality used 100 vise. I don't need it critically but want it for my garage. one will pop up sooner or later.

Actually they did make vises, not bench vises though http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/271844889439 and they're usually ridiculously overpriced. The Kurt style vises made the BP vises basically drill press vises.

I knew they made milling vises, when I got my BP mill recently I was told the BP milling vises were **** and to stay away, that's why I mentioned BENCH vises.

Merim: congrats on your purchase of the Columbian for a fair price. now you have something to use while you look at your leisure for a big un.

BTW i agree the first vise you posted was a cheap import, but at $45 not the worst deal i've ever seen just not for me.

cheers

Thank you! It is a Columbian as you said. Came with a nice story. Guy that sold it to me said it was part of his tool and die biz and he is retired so no use for it anymore.
