I have an old bottle jack that I want to rebuild. It was repainted red over green paint and the only thing I can find on the metal is 8A and Made in the USA. I am thinking Hein Werner. We bought it used in the late 70's or early 80's and stopped using it because it stopped working after the neighbor used it in the mid 80's. I tried it and it now works but would like to rebuild it and put it back to work. Thanks!

old thread but I just bought a bottle jack that also says 8-A. there is a casting mark on the base - a circle with a R inside. I also have a smaller jack from the same maker. It is a 310-A. both have remnants of green paint. any clues on the manufacturer? thanks for any help!

Wondering if you ever found further information and repair parts for this jack. I have one as well and would like to rebuild. Appreciate any assistance.

Life got in the way the last few years and I still have not done anymore to it other than stripping off all of the paint .

Thanks John. I believe it is an old Hein Werner 8A. I called BlackhawkParts.com yesterday. They are researching a rebuild kit and are supposed to get back to me. Thought I would have heard from them by now. Will let you know if / when I hear from them. It is a heavy big old beast, an 8 ton I believe. As an FYI, I found some adds / parts on Ebay indicating that this is out of the 40's. Just not sure which parts kit is the correct one. There are some that say they are for 8 - 10 ton, but would rather not spend $70 - $80 on something that is not correct. If you look on Ebay and see something that you think is the correct one, please let me know.
